Indonesia stands out as one of the most prolific hotspots for reptiles in the entire world. This group of scaled creatures is found throughout the whole country, but the Lesser Sunda Islands region of Southern Indonesia stands out. Here you’ll find the world’s largest crocodile, longest venomous snake, longest constrictor and the world’s largest lizard, as well as some of the most visually stunning vipers on the entire planet.

South-East Asia’s biodiversity champion:

There’s no other place on Earth like Indonesia. The world’s largest archipelago is the bridge between Asia and Oceania, and holds the second highest level of biodiversity in the whole world. This is thanks to once being connected to both continents as well as the country’s large diversity in ecosystems. Indonesia also has more mammal and endemic species than anywhere else, as well as containing 17% of the world’s total bird species. This jewel of South-east Asia is a nature lover’s heaven.
